Built in 1884, the lighthouse is an iconic landmark on the island's eastern tip. This 98-foot iron skeleton tower was constructed to guide ships through the Gulf of Mexico and is one of Florida’s first lighthouses on the Gulf Coast. Though no longer functioning, it remains a symbol of the island's maritime heritage. The surrounding area features a fishing pier, picnic spots, boardwalks and nature trails. A portion of the lighthouse was restored in 2024 after hurricane damage.
