Frequently Asked Questions

No, Shalimar does not allow pets. Trained service animals as defined by Title II and Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) are permitted. Emotional support animals (ESAs) do not qualify as service animals under ADA guidelines. Non-compliance will result in guest party being asked to leave with no refund issued. A $500 cleaning fee will be assessed if an animal is brought onto the property that is not considered a service animal.
Parking is limited. One free on-site parking space is provided per room. A hanging rearview mirror parking pass will be issued and required to be displayed at all times. Parking is monitored by staff and enforced. Pease do not bring more than one vehicle onto the property. Additional parking may be assigned based on availability for $25 per day. Additional parking is not guaranteed and arrangements must be made prior to arrival. There are no designated EV charging stations; EV charging is available at the Sanibel Captiva Chamber of Commerce, located at 1159 Causeway Blvd.

Please note: If room is not vacated by check-out time, Shalimar staff reserves the right to remove guest party's belongings and will not be held liable for any damage or loss of personal belongings. No refunds will be given for departures prior to the confirmed departure date of the reservation.
Daily housekeeping service is not provided for stays of less than 7 days. Housekeeping will be provided once per week for stays of 7 days or longer (extra service may be requested in advance for an additional charge). A towel/linen exchange is available for all guests daily from 8 AM to 1 PM in the office.
Yes, the guest laundry is located in the Sea Horse building and is open from 8 AM to 8 PM. Washing and drying machines and an iron + ironing board are available at no cost. Guests must provide their own detergent/laundry supplies. Supplies may also be purchased at the resort office from 8 AM to 8 PM.
Yes, rollaway beds, "Pack 'n Play"-style cribs, and high chairs are available. Please let us know your request prior to arrival.
Yes, our saltwater pool maintains a comfortable swimming temperature year-round.
We provide Adirondack-style beach chairs at no cost. Guests must return chairs to their convenient storage locations after use. Beach towels and lounger-style chairs are available for rent at the resort office.
Yes! Beach towels, umbrellas, and beach lounge chairs may be rented at the resort office. Bicycles and paddle boards are available for rent depending on the time of year and availability from vendors.

Resort Policies
A deposit equal to the cost of one night’s stay or 35% of the total stay (whichever is greater) is collected at the time of booking.
Cancellations for reservations during high season (Dec 20 to April 30) must be made 45 days prior to arrival date. Cancellations for out of season reservations (May 1 to December 19) must be made 30 days prior to arrival date. All reservations canceled within the above date ranges will result in full forfeiture of deposit. All cancelations will be subject to a processing fee of $50 or 6% of the deposit amount (whichever is greater). Deposit refunds will be issued to original form of payment; however, refunds for credit card deposits older than 90 days will be issued via paper check.
No refunds will be given for departures prior to the confirmed departure date of the reservation. No refunds will be given for non-emergency weather or acts of God. Refunds will be issued if the City of Sanibel declares a mandatory evacuation.
Room rates are based on 2 guests per unit in Hotel Studio and One Bedroom Villa units, with a maximum capacity of 4 persons per unit in these room types. Room rates for Two Bedroom Villas are based on 4 guests per unit, with a maximum capacity of 6 persons per unit. Additional fees will be assessed for additional guests based on room type. A $20 per person/per night charge will be assessed for extra guests aged 13 and above. Shalimar follows local and state safety regulations and ordinances to comply with max guest capacities. We reserve the right to deny occupancy to any extra guest who does not register with the front desk or is not indicated at the time of booking.
Adjoining rooms are available in the Hotel Studio building for larger groups, with a maximum total capacity of 8 persons (4 per room). Adjoining rooms will be assigned 2 free parking spaces (one per room). Additional parking fees will apply for more than 2 vehicles, and a space may only be assigned based on availability.
We will make our best attempt to honor specific requests, such as view, specific accommodations, or locations within the property. However, if such requests cannot be honored, Shalimar reserves the right to provide alternate accommodation. To better serve your needs, please advise us of any special requests in advance of your arrival date.
Shalimar is a non-smoking property. Smoking in rooms and on lanais is not permitted. Non-compliance will result in the guest party being removed from the property. No refund will be issued for the remainder of the stay, and a $500 cleaning fee will be assessed.
Moving or rearranging furniture in the room is not permitted. Please do not remove furniture from room lanais or pool deck.
Guests may only grill in the designated barbecue/picnic area near the pool; grilling is not permitted on lanais, walkways, or in the rooms.
All guests must return beach chairs to designated storage locations after use. Non-compliance for any of the above will result in a $500 fine.
Sanibel Island has experienced many hurricanes over the last few years. These storms may have left debris on the beach. We have taken all necessary steps to remove debris from the sand; however, there is still a possibility you may find remnants of storm debris on the beach and throughout the property. Please be on the lookout for hazards and debris to avoid injury. Shalimar will not be responsible for accidents or injury to guests, or for loss of money, jewelry or valuables of any kind. This property is privately owned, and management reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.
